Art Camps

Visual Arts (SK-Gr.12): Our summer Art Workshops provide a fun and educational experience where students express themselves creatively while learning about the elements and principles of art and design. Infusing a component of art history, students are exposed to famous 20th century artists in a workshop format as they work on art from inspiration and observation. Working independently through a variety of age-appropriate projects, students will learn new drawing, painting, and sculpting techniques and will proudly walk away with quality artwork.

Sculpting Camp (Gr.5-12): As an art form, sculptures fill our space in a three dimensional form. By using different techniques to create relief and free standing sculptures, campers spend the week delving into the world of 3D art. Learning from the great 20th century sculptors, campers will plan and execute several sculptures using a variety of materials while exploring a variety of techniques such as modeling, molding, carving, assembling, and casting.

Storyboarding - An Introduction to 2D Animation (Gr.5-12): The path to animation begins with a display of still images in sequence for the purpose of portraying action and movement. In this 15hr workshop, campers begin with drafting their very own animation sequence in the form of a storyboard. Working with artists from the field, animators are introduced to the principles of 2D movement and expression as they focus on proportion, perspective, and a story line ready for future computer animation.

Creative Writing Workshop (Gr.5-12):Throughout this 15 hour workshop, writers develop, enhance and illustrate a short story, taking part in a writers’ circle to discus narrative options and make informed literary choices. Aspiring writers work with teachers and artists to explore the essential elements of a great story, as they delve into creating compelling characters, exploring dynamic settings, structuring great narratives and illustrating plot events. Wrapping up our inspirational week together with a bound book of their own making, writers walk away with a wealth of ideas for prequels, sequels, and other future stories.
