Sonia Halpern is an Art Historian and has been a popular prof at Western University for many years. She has also published two books of humourous poetry and a book of original music compositions. She enjoys teaching art appreciation courses in the London community.

Welcoming Art Historian Sonia Halpern back to our studio this fall, we're excited to host our next ART SMART Lecture Series "Subject Matters"!
Throughout art’s history, certain subjects have stood the test of time. The universal themes such as landscapes, still-lifes, romantic love, motherhood, and war have prompted innumerable artists over many centuries to explore these indelible topics. Why have these particular subjects endured? Our 6-part lecture series will address this fascinating question, examine the various ways that artists have interpreted these subjects, and illuminate their ongoing allure for artists and the public alike.
