Summer Camp Counsellors Positions
ArtVenture is looking to hire post-secondary students OR recently graduated professionals within the fields of Visual Arts, Fine Arts, and/or Education - whose career path and life passions will provide parents and campers with a high quality program. 

We are looking for Art Instructors who are energetic, passionate, and able to communicate lesson plans and lesson objectives clearly. 
Problem solving and time management skills along with leadership qualities are a great asset within ArtVenture’s classrooms.

As a Camp Counsellor you are responsible for delivering a defined and pre-planned art program to children ages 5-15 in a safe and inspiring environment. Summer camps are divided into five different art programs to include General Visual Arts, 3D Sculpting, 2D Animation, Creative Writing, and Songwriting. You will be required to lead or assist in one or many of these themes. While the planning of the programs is the responsibility of ArtVenture, instructors are in charge of teaching, guiding, and aiding the process of each project within these programs to which they are assigned. You will be asked to manage small groups of children as they create different art projects, and are further responsible for prepping and cleaning before and after each camp day while ensuring campers have a positive and safe art experience at ArtVenture.

REQUIREMENTS -
  • Adhering with Canada Summer Jobs Grant, applicants must be under 30 years of age
EDUCATION 
  • Graduated with a teaching certificate in Education and/or Visual Art
 OR
  • Currently enrolled as a Post Secondary student within the Visual Arts or Education fields

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Previous experience as a teacher / instructor / facilitator
  • Extensive knowledge of Art History and Colour Theory
  • Ability to guide and instruct in order to help students of all ages find their own artistic voice
  • Ability to guide and instruct students through various art projects using a variety of media
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-organized and committed
  • Creative and energetic
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire
  • Knowledge of CPR / First Aid an asset
  • Provide instruction to students by promoting interactive learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school management
  • Practice time management skills along with classroom management, to ensure that active learning occurs

APPLICATION PROCESS

Interested applicants are asked to submit a resume and cover letter along with a portfolio of recent work (this can be your own artwork or art created by your students under your guidance) to info@artventure.ca 
Successful applicants will be invited for an interview.
Applicants who are then selected to move onto the second part of the interview will be invited to participate in one or two of our regular weekly classes and/or our March Break Art Camp. This is a hands-on portion of the interview as it providesthe chance to observe applicants’ interaction with children and their approach to art education.

PLEASE NOTE
  • This is a full time position (30hrs/week) for a duration of six to seven weeks throughout the summer.
  • Camps will commence on Monday, July 6th and will end on Friday, August 28th, 2020
  • We will not be offering camps during the Civic Holiday short week of August 3-7
  • For this position, candidates must be available for the entire duration of the summer
  • There will be two paid mandatory staff meetings prior to July 6th.
