Class Description

 

 

Grades SK - 2  

Media: Pencil Crayons, Markers, Oil Pastel, Watercolours, Tempera, and Clay.

Students will explore the basic elements of arts: line, shape, texture, colour, value and space through story illustrations and themes related to their daily lives and close environment. Using their imagination and learning various techniques they will create original works of art that communicate thoughts and feelings.

Grades 3 - 5 

Media: Graphite, Pencil Crayons, Oil Pastel, Soft Pastel, Watercolours, Tempera, and Clay

Students will be introduced to different media, styles, and techniques and develop a sense of design, starting with the basics of composition and colour theory. They will learn how to create light, volume, and space integrating these elements into the overall composition with the emphasis on harmony, balance, unity, variety and contrast.  They will experience the creative, decision-making process and will be encouraged to express themselves emphasizing experimentation through age related themes.  

 

Duration: 1 ˝ hours weekly

Grades 6 - 8

Media: Conté, Charcoal, Pencil Crayons, Oil Pastel, Soft Pastel, Scratchboard, Watercolours, Acrylic, and Clay.

Students will discover their own personal style and individual expression while learning the techniques needed for creating works of art.  They will explore the versatility of various drawing materials and experiment with different painting techniques. Students will be introduced to the diversity of styles based on the 19th and 20th century art movements. 

Classes include Drawing, Painting, Clay sculpture, and Mixed Media.

 

Duration: 1 ˝ hours weekly

Grades 9 - 12

 

Media: Graphite, Charcoal, Pencil Crayons, Oil Pastel, Soft Pastel, Ink, Watercolours, Acrylic, and Clay

 

Students will develop their own personal style and individual expression while learning the techniques needed for creating works of art.  They will explore the versatility of various drawing and painting materials.  Students will be introduced to the diversity of styles based on the 20th and 21st century artists and art movements.

 

Duration: 2 hours weekly

Adults

Drawing / Painting

 

Media: Graphite, Charcoal, Pencil Crayons, Oil Pastel, Soft Pastel, Ink, Watercolours, and Acrylic

This class is designed for adults wishing to develop their drawing and painting abilities and refining composition and style using a variety of media and art techniques.  Subject matter will include still life, landscape and figurative art inspired by the 20th and 21st century artists and art movements.  Open to all levels.

Duration: 2 hours weekly

School Reservations

Sessions are geared towards achieving teacher-set objectives, integrating visual arts with other academic subjects.  All classes will be carefully correlated to the Ontario Visual Arts Curriculum.  Classes can accommodate up to 30 students per session.  Class size and duration depends on grade level and depth of project.  Contact for more information.
